Stolen Wine's Always Bitter is a quest from Wyot, the foreman at the Mannshire winery. Recover the stolen wine crate and decide how to deal with the worker who fled with it. Investigation, confrontation and reporting choices affect rewards, Mannshire reputation, winery lodging and Wyot's selling price.
Quest flow
After starting at the winery, the investigation node explains the free and paid clues. The third node then branches into five mutually exclusive confrontation results. Reporting and deadline failure have their own nodes.

Starting and preparing
01 Ask Wyot about the stolen wine
Find Wyot at the Mannshire Winery and ask about the wine crate taken by a worker. Hear the request, then agree to find and return the stolen wine to start the quest.
Refusing the request does not start the quest. While it has not started, you can return to Wyot and reconsider the request.

02 Investigate the winery
After accepting the quest, while its investigation is unfinished, complete Elva's clue conversation to reveal Camp for free; alternatively, use the other investigation dialogue with a worker and pay 20 crowns. The two routes are alternatives, so you do not need both.
After the quest starts, the nearest suitable Steppe camp is selected from the winery and changed into Camp. It has no universal coordinate shared by every save; follow the journal, clues and map in your current game.

Camp confrontation and whereabouts
03 Confront Halmar at the camp
After finding Camp, speak with Halmar and decide what to do. The five results below are mutually exclusive branches from this node, not a sequence of required steps after completion.
↑ Volver al flujoC1 Kill
Choose the attack option in the first confrontation at Camp to enter combat. If the fight instead reaches the wounded dialogue, you can refuse mercy and let Halmar die; that still counts as the kill result. Reporting at the winery uses Standard return.
↑ Volver al flujoC2 Persuade him to return to the winery
Choose the dialogue option to persuade Halmar to return to the winery, then confirm it. He returns to the winery on this route after the confrontation; reporting with the quest crate uses Voluntary return.
↑ Volver al flujoC3 Return him after treatment
During the active quest's initial camp fight, while Halmar is still fighting normally and visible, your damage reducing him below 10% of maximum health opens the wounded dialogue. You can treat him with unlocked Cauterize Wounds, or use Bandage or Rag. Item treatment consumes a rag first if one is available; otherwise it uses 1 bandage charge and removes the bandage when depleted. Refusing treatment lets him die afterward. Choose treatment, then choose to return him to the winery; after treatment and return, reporting uses Return after treatment.
↑ Volver al flujoC4 Release him
Choose to release Halmar in the first confrontation, letting him leave the camp instead of returning to the winery. You may pay the additional 100 crowns, but that choice does not change Standard return.
↑ Volver al flujoC5 Release him after treatment
During the active quest's initial camp fight, while Halmar is still fighting normally and visible, your damage reducing him below 10% of maximum health opens the wounded dialogue. You can treat him with unlocked Cauterize Wounds, or use Bandage or Rag. Item treatment consumes a rag first if one is available; otherwise it uses 1 bandage charge and removes the bandage when depleted. Refusing treatment lets him die afterward. Choose treatment, then release him; he does not return to the winery. You may pay the additional 100 crowns, but that choice does not change Standard return.
↑ Volver al flujo| Disposition | Scope of result |
|---|---|
| Kill | Halmar dies and the report uses the standard reward tier. |
| Persuade him to return to the winery | Halmar returns to the winery on this route and the corresponding higher reward tier applies. |
| Return him after treatment | Halmar returns to the winery on this route and the corresponding higher reward tier applies. |
| Release him | Halmar does not return to the winery on this route and the report uses the standard reward tier. |
| Release him after treatment | Halmar does not return to the winery on this route and the report uses the standard reward tier. |
Recovering the crate
04 Recover the quest wine crate
Find the tagged quest wine crate at Camp and carry it back to the Winery. Taking the crate makes the quest ready for reporting and changes the camp's current cleared state.

05 Return the crate to Wyot
Bring the quest crate back to Winery and report to Wyot. The three reward tiers are listed below. The standard tier is used when higher conditions are not met; it is not a kill-only reward.
The table lists base Mannshire reputation changes. Positive reputation is multiplied by the character's global reputation-gain modifier, then rounded. Returning the crate successfully completes the quest and opens the winery loft for sleeping.
↑ Volver al flujo| Condition | Immediate reward | Reputation | State |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard return | 250 crowns, 1 × Mannshire Fortified | Mannshire: base reputation change +100 | Completes the quest |
| Return after treatment | 350 crowns, 2 × Mannshire Fortified | Mannshire: base reputation change +200 | Completes the quest |
| Voluntary return | 400 crowns, 3 × Mannshire Fortified, 4 × Grape | Mannshire: base reputation change +250 | Completes the quest |
Failure after the deadline
Failure causes Mannshire: base reputation change -200 and adds +0.15 to Wyot's selling-price multiplier. This price change applies to Wyot personally, not uniformly to every Mannshire merchant or everyone at the winery.
F1 Return the crate before the deadline
While the quest is active and retrieving the crate is still an unfinished objective, detecting the tagged quest crate makes the quest ready to report. A start time is recorded only if none exists. The 72-in-game-hour deadline runs from this record, not from accepting the quest.
The hourly deadline check runs only while the quest is ready to report. If the crate is no longer detected, the quest returns to the retrieval stage and failure checks stop. The original timestamp remains, so elapsed time is neither paused nor reset. Once the crate is detected again, an overdue quest fails at the next eligible hourly check. Detection concerns tagged quest-crate instances; moving the crate out of your backpack alone does not establish that the deadline is safe.
↑ Volver al flujoLocation and service changes
The lodging effects apply separately to the Winery and Camp map locations. The winery is associated with Mannshire but remains a separate place. The table lists the confirmed opening states.
| Change | Description |
|---|---|
| Winery lodging | The winery loft is available for sleeping after a successful report. |
| Camp lodging | Confirmed opening states include after Halmar's death, reaching the persuasion dialogue where he fears execution if he returns to the winery, the wounded dialogue opening; meeting any one of them makes the camp available for sleeping. |
