01 Receive the contract from Verren

During the concluding caravan-upgrade conversation, Verren gives you the Old Contract and asks you to collect payment for an old job in Mannshire. The conversation completes the upgrade quest, starts Old Contract, and reveals map information for Mannshire.

Before leaving, make sure you have received and are carrying the Old Contract. This article's map link locates Mannshire; to report back, find Verren at the caravan camp in your own save.

02 Dirigiti a Mannshire.

Travel to Mannshire, find the elder Knud, and show him the Old Contract. The conversation requires the item and the relevant negotiations not to have already been concluded. His character page provides location information, and the original town quest row remains available.

Knud considers the contract expired and says the former elder who signed it has died. He therefore refuses the original payment. You can accept compensation through another contract or keep pressing for a smaller immediate payment.

03 Choose how to negotiate

Accepting Knud's offer of compensation through another contract advances the quest and grants the 2× Mannshire contract reward bonus. Continuing to demand payment for the old job first costs Mannshire reputation; taking a purse or asking for more costs additional reputation. The table totals the full dialogue path.

After pressing the issue, you can refuse the purse, accept 100 crowns, or demand 200 crowns. The money arrives in a purse during this conversation. These routes all retain the contract bonus, so weigh the immediate payment against its reputation cost.

04 Report to Verren at camp

After concluding the negotiation with Knud, return to the caravan camp and report the result to Verren. Continue through his discussion of future plans. This completes Old Contract, opens the onward objectives for Denbrie and Rotten Willow, and reveals their map areas.

Any purse is received during Knud's negotiation; Verren's concluding conversation completes the quest and provides the onward objectives. You can pursue those objectives during later exploration. This quest does not require another enemy-clearing visit to the Abbey of the Holy Revelation.

R1 Lost contract: recover it or repay

If you have not yet discussed the contract with Knud and are no longer carrying it, reporting to Verren leads to the lost-contract conversation. If you can recover it, choose to look for it and then take it to the elder. Continuing into the repayment dialogue changes the journal to Earn a Thousand Crowns.

Gather 1000 crowns as directed by the journal and return to the caravan camp to repay Verren. This money is deducted as the cost of the lost-contract route. Payment completes the quest; continuing the subsequent conversation still provides the onward objectives for Denbrie and the Rotten Willow.

At the caravan's location, the payment check also includes available gold in caravan storage. Once you have told Verren the contract was lost, returning to him with the recovered item still prompts a 1000-crown demand, even if you chose to look for it before the repayment journal stage began. Take the recovered contract to Knud first to continue the negotiation.
