01 Accept quest

Find l'Owcrey at the Rotten Willow Tavern and complete the greeting first. Then ask the two questions about the task details and its whereabouts; l'Owcrey must have no other active task in this group. The request appears only when Rotten Willow Tavern reputation is at least 3000, the quest is incomplete and these conversations are available. Explicitly agree to accept it; that action reveals the Roadside Chapel and starts the quest.

The first journal objective is “Head to the Roadside Chapel”. It points to the Roadside Chapel on the world map, rather than to a room inside the Rotten Willow Tavern.

02 Reach chapel

Follow the journal to the Roadside Chapel, complete “Explore the Roadside Chapel” and deal with the enemies inside. Clearing them advances “Kill the Brigands”; the Father Origen must also survive if you want the priest route.

Reaching the chapel changes which task conversations are available. It is not a reward step: use the clues from Father Origen or Grimms before choosing what to do next.

03 Find clues

After protecting Father Origen, ask him about the tablet to open the refuge clue. If that route is unavailable, use “Search the Chapel for Clues” to search the chapel for clues. Conversations with Grimms can also free him and open the preparation option for the ritual.

Whether the priest survives determines whether the tablet can be handed to him. If the priest has died, the priest route is unavailable, so continue with the chapel search and any available key clues.

If Grimms dies while the rescue objective is still open, that objective fails and “Search the Chapel for Clues” opens. Continue by searching for the clues.

04 Search refuge

Use the priest clue or the chapel search to reach the Theosopher's Refuge, complete “Head to the Theosopher's Refuge” and continue with “Find the Tabula of Aeons”. This is a quest-specific dungeon location; the directory and map links show the documented entry example, while your save determines the actual position.

Once inside the Theosopher's Refuge, search according to the journal and complete “Find the Tabula of Aeons” to find the Tabula of Aeons. The separate item checks and scene replacement timers are explained in the failure node; neither is a single deadline starting at acceptance.

05 Choose route

After completing “Find the Tabula of Aeons” and finding the Tabula of Aeons, you can take it back to l'Owcrey or hand it to the still-available Father Origen. These are mutually exclusive first-delivery routes; a gift from a successful priest route can still be received alongside the later result from l'Owcrey.

Handing the tablet to the priest temporarily removes it and starts the ritual route. Whether the ritual succeeds or fails, complete “Pick Up the Tabula of Aeons” to retrieve it before completing “Bring the Tabula of Aeons to l'Owcrey” and reporting to l'Owcrey.

D1 Give the tablet directly to l'Owcrey

From the tablet-found node, return directly to l'Owcrey, complete “Bring the Tabula of Aeons to l'Owcrey” and hand over the Tabula of Aeons. This route does not enter the priest ritual or grant a ritual gift; its final result is listed in the reporting node's mutually exclusive table.

P1 Hand the tablet to the priest

Choose to hand the Tabula of Aeons to Father Origen and complete “Return the Tabula of Aeons to Father Origen”. The tablet is no longer in your possession while this route is active; the night preparation and later retrieval become available. Choose this route only while Father Origen remains available.

P2 Wait for night and prepare the ritual

Follow the journal and wait until night, then speak with Grimms to prepare the ritual. If you take the supplies, the verified package is: 4 × Caltrops, Hunting Net, Splint, 2 × Bandage, 2 × Healing Salve. They belong to preparation and are not the priest's post-ritual gift.

P3 Start the ritual and survive the waves

Start the ritual after the night preparation. The priest is an enemy priority target. The ritual has 3 waves; protect him and complete the full sequence. If the priest dies during it, the ritual follows the failure route and the three gift choices do not open.

After success, choose one of the three gifts below. Whether it succeeds or fails, return to the chapel to retrieve the Tabula of Aeons before reporting it to l'Owcrey.

P4 Retrieve the tablet after the priest route

After the priest route grants a gift or resolves as a failure, perform “Pick Up the Tabula of Aeons” again and carry the Tabula of Aeons with you. Without retrieving it, you cannot complete “Bring the Tabula of Aeons to l'Owcrey” or receive the result from l'Owcrey.

If “Talk to Grimms” is open when Grimms dies, that objective fails and “Pick Up the Tabula of Aeons” opens. Retrieve the tablet to continue toward its return.

G1 Choose the plate, chalice and mirror

After a successful ritual, choose this option to receive: Gold Plate, Liturgical Chalice, Ornate Mirror. It is one of three alternatives and is not granted together with the other two.

G2 Choose the Blessed Crossbow

After a successful ritual, choose this option to receive: Blessed Crossbow. It is one of three alternatives and is not granted together with the valuables or blessing boost.

Father Origen stops using ranged attacks when he hands over the crossbow.

G3 Choose the blessing boost

After a successful ritual, choose this option to refresh the three existing blessings and add the verified attributes: Blessing: chance to turn critical hits into normal attacks +6 percentage points, unholy damage reduction +6 percentage points; It follows that blessing's normal turn-based duration; this choice does not add a shared duration; Peace of Mind: chance to turn critical hits into normal attacks +5 percentage points, unholy damage reduction +5 percentage points; It follows that blessing's normal turn-based duration, which also decreases as experience is gained; Ancestors' Gaze: chance to turn critical hits into normal attacks +5 percentage points, unholy damage reduction +5 percentage points; It uses stacks, up to 6; one stack decays every 60 turns and it is removed below 30% of maximum health. This choice requires Father Origen to be alive; his survival remains a condition for the blessing to stay active.

The values above are fixed increments from this choice. Each blessing keeps its own duration or stack rules, and the dwarf blessing's existing per-stack values still follow its stack count. This choice does not create one shared permanent duration. Retrieve the tablet afterward, then report to l'Owcrey.

06 Claim reward

Bring the Tabula of Aeons back to l'Owcrey and complete “Bring the Tabula of Aeons to l'Owcrey”. Direct delivery, ritual success and ritual failure each use one mutually exclusive row below. Choose the priest gift at the gift node after a successful ritual, then still claim the corresponding result from l'Owcrey here.

Positive reputation values in the table are base inputs; the actual change is rounded after the character's reputation-gain modifier. The chapel's final scene is also handled per result, as described in the location changes section.

F1 Failure, loss and recovery

Loss checks use a threshold of 24 in-game hours, with the starting point changing according to the objective and items you retain. During the chapel clue search, retaining its quest key or note keeps refreshing the timer. While travelling to the refuge or searching for the relic, losing the crypt key starts its timer and recovering it stops that timer. These item checks also include the caravan stash.

At the threshold, an unfinished chapel clue search with both its quest key and note missing fails the quest. If the crypt key has been lost or the relic was previously obtained, and neither the crypt key nor the Tabula of Aeons can be detected, the game confirms the loss and restarts the timer; use the loss conversations described below. At the Roadside Chapel, Rotten Willow Tavern, the check is postponed by 120 game minutes.

Other elapsed checks first close the option to return the tablet to the priest. If that option is already lost, or the ritual has succeeded or failed, the check can also close the refuge and end the unfinished quest. In those states, however, the timer refreshes each turn while a return objective remains open and the Tabula of Aeons is detected. Carrying the tablet after the ritual therefore does not impose a fixed 24-hour delivery deadline.

The chapel scene replacement uses a separate timer: ritual failure normally waits 2 in-game hours and other endings normally wait 24 in-game hours. If you are still at the chapel, the “Talk to Grimms” objective is still open, the chapel clue search is still open, the ritual tablet has not been retrieved, the scene update is postponed by another 60 minutes. These blockers affect the chapel scene replacement, not the item and route checks above.

If the crypt key is lost and cannot be found by the active quest, the failure result applies Rotten Willow Tavern: base reputation change -500. If the Tabula of Aeons is lost and the quest cannot detect it either, the result applies Rotten Willow Tavern: base reputation change -2000. Both failure dialogues make l'Owcrey refuse further discussion for 7 days.

After the prerequisite dialogue for the loss route, recover the Tabula of Aeons and return it to l'Owcrey for the recovery result: reputation is raised only to at least 3000, you receive 375 crowns, normal dialogue returns and the quest completes. Recovery is not a fixed 3000-point increase and does not automatically refund the earlier penalty.
