01 Accept Josh's request

Ask Josh, Mannshire's priest, whether he has work. He explains that the village needs a herbalist and asks you to visit an elderly healer at a hut in the nearby woods and invite him to Mannshire. Accepting adds the lead to your exploration information, and writing the first objective starts the quest.

You may refuse the first offer. While the hut remains undiscovered, speaking with Josh again offers the request once more. If you discovered the hut beforehand, that reacceptance condition no longer applies; after hearing the initial request, the report entry is instead enabled by the location's discovered state, so check Josh's available report dialogue.

02 Trova il Rifugio dell'Eremita

The Hermit's Hut is a named location placed when the world is generated. The game selects a position in its assigned zone on temperate woodland or pine terrain, so its coordinates can differ between new games. Follow Josh's directions, the map lead and the roads and terrain in your own save.

03 Discover and enter the location

Explore the hut area until the location becomes discovered. If the quest has started, that discovery completes Find the Hermit's Hut and changes the journal objective to claiming the reward in Mannshire. The hut has separate room variants for the two woodland biomes, with the same quest update in either one.

04 Report back to Josh

There is no surviving herbalist to invite back from the hut. Return to Mannshire and tell Josh what you found. He pays 100 crowns for the trip, advances the reward objective and completes the quest.

The reward script feeds 100 into Mannshire's reputation calculation. Positive reputation is multiplied by the character's current global reputation-gain factor and rounded, so the actual increase is not a fixed 100 points for every character.

R1 Hand in the Old Remedy Book and return later

If you speak with Josh while carrying the Old Remedy Book before the quest starts, you can give it to him for 50 crowns and a Mannshire reputation base input of ＋50. This book hand-in does not start, advance or complete Herbalist for Mannshire; the hut investigation and report remain a separate flow.

Reporting the hut records the time when the quest reward is claimed. If Josh has already received the Old Remedy Book, entering Mannshire's church at least 2 in-game days later enables a follow-up conversation. He explains that he learned some herbalism from the book, refreshes his stock and opens trading.

The follow-up also raises Josh's stock-size parameter by 20%, lowers his selling-price parameter by 20%, and feeds another 50 into Mannshire's reputation calculation. These are character trading parameters; item and other pricing rules still affect final prices, so this is not a universal discount on every item.
